About Us—Motley's Pumpkin Patch
In 1982, Randy and Linda Motley planted 2,000 Christmas trees as the beginning of Motley's Tree Farm. Randy's parents, Ralph and Darlene, helped them with the planting, and by 1986, the Motley's were operating three farms in Arkansas: Tar Camp Christmas tree farm in Redfield, Willow Springs Christmas tree farm in Little Rock, and a wholesale Christmas tree farm in Hensley. They had nearly 30,000 trees in production.
But by 1997, the Motley's had learned that it was a lot more fun to sell Christmas trees directly to the families that will be taking them home. They left the wholesale market, and began inviting the public to come out to the farm in Little Rock to choose and cut their very own Christmas trees. In 2008, they added the Motley's Pumpkin Patch at the same location.
Randy notes that they have been providing beautiful, locally grown Christmas trees to Central Arkansas families for approximately three decades now. "I've watched families come year after year, and seen their children grow up," he said. "And now, those kids are bringing their children to enjoy the same family tradition."
"A while back, people just came out, found their tree, and went back home, but now we offer a terrific time on the farm for the whole family, with play areas, pig races, and a beautiful store full of both Halloween and Christmas decorations and much more. The Motley's Pumpkin Patch offers a great day of fall fun, and is already becoming another Motley's tradition for Arkansas families."
When you visit us, please do introduce yourselves. You'll likely see Randy & Linda, as well as Randy and Linda's son, Michael. At lot of the rest of the fall and winter crew are family members—brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews—it's a family affair, and we hope you'll enjoy a day becoming a part of the family!
Randy likes to say "Motley's Tree farm is central Arkansas' best kept secret—only our friends know about us. But then, one trip to our farm, and you'll be a friend too!"
